Chris Van Buren, Partner
Specializing in Business Development & Client Relations
As a founding partner of Embrook, Chris Van Buren combines his passion for creating efficiencies for
small to mid-size businesses, with his ability to design comprehensive benefits, HR and business solutions.
Chris began his career at CBIZ, a national benefits consulting firm, where he worked with companies ranging in size from 20 to 2,000 employees, to provide strategic guidance for the selection, administration and communication of group health and welfare benefit plans. His expertise in managing new and existing client relationships led him to Microsoft Corporation, where he was tasked with pinpointing efficient software solutions for small to mid-sized businesses that often had complex needs across their IT, finance and human resources departments. By understanding the unique processes and needs of each group and synergizing their feedback, he delivered efficient and customized solutions for Microsoft infrastructure and business applications.
Now Chris finds people are relying on his rare mix of benefits and software experience as they try to navigate the complexities of benefits, payroll and HR administration. He spends much of his time with current and prospective Embrook clients, while also constantly vetting new benefits offerings, technology vendors and payroll and HR systems.
Chris holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Richmond. Away from work, he enjoys coaching his kids' little league teams and playing tennis and platform tennis. Chris has served on the Boards of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Society of Human Resources Managers (SHRM) and Huntingdon Valley Country Club.
